Magnus Jung-Kopperud

Magnus Jung-Kopperud (b. 1972) is a painter educated at the Oslo School of Drawing and Painting and the Accademia di Brera in Milan. Since the mid-2000s, he has developed a figurative style that combines rigorous composition with a powerful physical presence.
Through a process of layering, shifts in perspective and anatomy, and a muted yet intense palette, he explores perception, time, and presence within both urban and intimate spaces. He paints without the use of models or photographs; instead, the images emerge through a continuous interplay between his inner vision and the inherent will of the canvas.
Jung-Kopperud has participated in group exhibitions since the early 2000s, and his work is represented in various private collections. He held his first duo exhibition with Dag Arild Dramstad in 2009. Notable exhibitions include Venus som Poledancer (Venus as Poledancer, 2019).
